Sioux Falls Police Catch Minnesota Fugitive at Hotel on Phillips

You never know what you're going to find when local officers patrol the streets of Sioux Falls. But the City of Sioux Falls Police Department had a surprising call late last week a one of downtown's hotels.

Police were on a mission to find a Minnesota fugitive that was possibly in the area. Well, their efforts paid off!

47-year-old Charles Einck of Ruthton, Minnesota was found by police inside the Hotel On Phillips. Our news partners at Dakota News Now explain dozens of units responded to a call last Wednesday, September 9th a little after 4 PM. The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office were first on the scene.

Charles Einck had a room at the Hotel On Phillips, and it wasn't easy to get him out.

The subject refused to leave the room he was in, leading to a barricaded subject situation. The Sioux Falls Police Department was then called to assist in the situation, and the surrounding areas in downtown Sioux Falls were shut down while negotiations took place.

Police escorted Charles out of the hotel around 6:20 PM. He was wanted for a parole violation warrant. The Minnesota Department of Corrections gives a better idea of Charles crimes in his report. Charles' highest offense is "Criminal Sexual Conduct."
