It's the season of giving all across the Sioux Empire, and everyone is feeling the generous spirit including Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken.

In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Mayor TenHaken shared with his Facebook followers that he recognizes members of the community may have experienced a tough year. That's why he wants to help make their holiday season a little brighter and invite them to lunch with him.

Having lunch with Mayor TenHaken sounds like it would be a great time! But he can't undertake this project alone. The mayor explains in the Facebook post that he needs the community's help to find families or individuals to treat to lunch and some Sioux Falls swag.

Last year I chose a couple of families to take out to eat and give some Sioux Falls swag to for the holidays. I absolutely loved it, met two sweet, amazing families (below) and want to do this again.

This member of the community can be any individual or a family. Simply put: Mayor Paul TenHaken wants to treat this person or group of people to lunch to thank them for being part of Sioux Falls and even gift them with a Sioux Falls prize package.

The gesture seems so small, but a little can really go a long way to make someone's day brighter. The Facebook post from Mayor Paul TenHaken explains the rules:

  1. Nominate a group or a person in the comment section of the Facebook post.
  2. Vote for that person(s)/comment by liking it.
  3. The comments with the most likes will win.

You can even add something to the Sioux Falls swag bag to give a person or family! Mayor TenHaken says, "If you want to provide anything for the One Sioux Falls swag bag I’ll be giving these families, please drop in by the Mayor’s Office at City Hall from 8-5, Monday-Friday."

This is truly a community effort, so share a story of someone you know with Mayor Paul TenHaken and vote on who will receive a free lunch! The spirit of giving is alive and well in Sioux Falls!
