South Dakota police and local authorities are asking for the public's help finding a careless criminal on the run.

Police in Roberts County Sheriff’s Office are looking for 26-year-old Bruce D. Demarrias Jr. He has active warrants in Roberts County and he "put lives at risk" when he refused to pull over on the road.

Not only does Bruce D. Demarrias Jr. have warrants, but also officials with Roberts County Sheriff’s Office explain Bruce is an "absconder from the South Dakota Department of Corrections Probation." Police believe that Bruce D. Demarrias Jr. is hiding in Sisseton Housing.

Thankfully, Roberts County Sheriff’s Office says there is no serious danger to the public at this time. However, authorities are advising the public not to approach Bruce D. Demarrias Jr. if they see him. Here's what South Dakota is up against:

  • Wanted Fugitive
  • Active warrants for arrest in Roberts County
  • Additional charges will be pending
  • DANGEROUS? No known violent history, but please DO NOT APPROACH
You may have noticed an increased law enforcement presence in northern Sisseton. This is related to the pursuit and efforts to locate Demarrias Jr. There is no immediate threat to public safety, but we ask for the community’s help in locating him. One other individual during this incident was safely taken into custody and later released.

Authorities with the Sisseton Police Department, South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribal Police have assisted in the continued search.
