It’s Iowa’s Wealthiest Town but Most Iowans Have Never Heard of It

The Hawkeye State is home to a seemingly endless list of unique and wholesome small towns, ranging from Decorah in the northeast to Red Oak in the southwest. Every one of these communities, scattered across the Iowa map has its own great characteristics which make it a truly great place to live.

However, one of these small towns ranks far above the rest when it comes to wealth. In fact, it's been named the wealthiest community in all of Iowa, and for good reason.

According to a recent article published by the Name Census Website, the richest town (per capita) in all of Iowa is the small town of Milo.

Even if you're a native Iowan, you may be wondering why you've never heard of this town if it's so wealthy. Well, in part, because it's so small.

According to the City of Milo's Website, the town only has a population of 775, so it doesn't get noticed much in the press. With that being said, Milo has a long history and for anyone who's lived or spent any amount of time in the town, it's probably no surprise to see the vibrant small town top the list of the richest towns in the state.

Milo claimed the top spot on the Name Census list namely because of the town's mean income, which is currently $211,407. To put that into perspective, that's nearly $25,000 more than the town of Newport, which comes in at number two on the list.
