Hooray! Sioux Falls Shelter Helps Bring South Dakota Cat Home
A South Dakota family is finally whole again after searching for their furry friend.
Thanks to the efforts of the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society and through their partnership with Petco and Sioux Falls Police Animal Control, a family has been reunited with their beloved family cat. Oh, happy days!

A South Dakota cat named Daisy was missing for eight long days. Her family was stressed and worried for their special cat. Luckily, Daisy was microchipped and located on the Petco Love Lost list. This made a big difference in searching for the curious Sioux Empire cat.
Petco has a nationwide program called Petco Love Lost, which is part of the mission to reunite lost pets with their families. Petco Love Lost is an app that makes it easy for families to search for their lost furry friend. The app "includes pets reported by individuals as well as thousands of shelter partners across the country. By uploading a photo of your lost or found pet and reporting it in our system, you make that pet visible to pet parents searching for their pet – making happy pet reunions just a few clicks away." With the help of a photo on the Petco Love Lost app, a South Dakota family now has their kitty home safe and sound.
Officials with the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society are thrilled Daisy's story has a happy ending. But there are lessons to be learned...
Daisy’s journey is a powerful reminder:
- Microchip your pets.
- Keep your contact info up to date.
- Never give up hope.
You never think it’ll happen to YOUR pet… until it does. A microchip can be the difference between heartbreak and a happy reunion. Daisy made it home—make sure your pet can too.
You can never be too protective of your furry friends!
Welcome home, Daisy. You were dearly missed!
