Dave Portnoy Makes Big Iowa Return To Try ‘Super Midwest Pizza’
Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports is back at it again, reviewing your favorite food...pizza. This time, he's giving local Iowa pizza shops his reviews.
If you're a fan of Barstool Sports, then you have to know the fury Barstool Sports President Dave Portnoy causes just after eating pizza. Dave Portnoy ranks pizza from across the country on his legendary Pizza Reviews. He knows how good a pizza is after just one bite. That's the rule.

During the second week of the college football season, Barstool Sports made an appearance in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday. They caught all the action of the big Iowa and Iowa State game. Dave Portnoy got familiar with Iowa locals, especially their pizza spots.
Iowans know very well how Dave feels about the famous Casey's breakfast pizza. Instead of tasting "gas station pizza," Dave checked out Pepp's Pizzeria in Urbandale and Jeff's Pizza Shop in Ames. Pepp's Pizzeria shared a Facebook post of the big moment when Dave Portnoy stopped by last week.
As of now, Dave has yet to share his Pizza Review of Pepp's Pizzeria. But he did share his thoughts on Jeff's Pizza Shop in Ames. The good news? Dave loves the town of Ames! He's a fan of the college town vibes and the Iowa State campus. The not-so-great news? Dave describes the pizza from Jeff's Pizza Shop as "super Midwest" and "drunk pizza" for those late nights.
Dave Portnoy met one of the owners of Jeff's Pizza Shop, Jeff Uetz, and really connected with his story of how Jeff started the pizza shop.
Dave admits that campus-style pizza, like from Jeff's Pizza Shop, is "generally, as a rule of thumb, is not my (his) favorite pizza of all time." Dave decided to give this spot a chance because the campus and locals rave about it. Here are Dave's initial thoughts:
It's drunk pizza. It's exactly what you'd expect. Now, I'm hungry so I can eat it right now. But it's not going on the 'Wall of Fame' or anything like that. Although super nice guys, super Midwestern...super don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings

It might be a little harsh, but Dave gave Jeff's Pizza Shop a 6.2. But he said he would come back to Ames!
