Here Are the Lyrics to Taylor Swift’s New Song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’
Taylor Swift is back with new music, and this time she's pulling on her cowgirl boots in a new song called 'I Knew It, I Knew You."
The track finds her in familiar territory, as it's a nod to her country origin story. Swift wrote it for the character of Jessie.
Taylor Swift's New Song "I Knew It, I Knew You" Is Surprisingly Country
"I Knew It, I Knew You" was written for the new film Toy Story 5, which arrives on June 19. After seeing an advanced screening in its early stages, Swift says she was so inspired that she went home and immediately. wrote the song.
The song speaks to memories of a loved one that you never forgot. Despite your best efforts to erase those memories, they all come flooding back the moment you see them again — no matter the amount of time that has passed.
The track is carried by a bluesy, folk baseline and a hypnotic harmonica. And while it's not the most country-fied song from Swift, it's the closest thing to her early days that we've heard in awhile.
Here Are the Lyrics to Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You"
Verse
I knew you through the daze of the blades of the grass in summer / Parachutes for the free fall of being younger / I memorized the sound of your bare footsteps / Running wild, it's been a long time / Life has ways of leaving those days behind / But seeing you tonight
Chorus
I remembered I loved you / Came back when it mattered, I saw you / Standing there in the light of the window wearing that same smile / Man, it's been a while / But I knew it, I knew you / I knew it, I knew you
Verse 2
I knеw you, all your blues like a mood ring changing colors / You did too, therе were times we could fight like brothers / I watched you drive around the bend for / What I thought would be the last time I saw my friend / But love has ways of bringing things back to life / All you said was, "Hi"
Repeat Chorus
Post-Chorus
I knew it, I knew you (I knew, I knew) / I knew it, I knew you (I knew, I knew)
Bridge
Oh, the rivers I cried when we said goodbye / Wondering if I'd made it up in my mind / But now you look me in the eye
Repeat Chorus
Repeat Post-Chorus
