When officials arrived at the scene, they found that 52-year-old James Weighton had been dragged by his tractor plow. Weighton was using his 1934 John Deere tractor to plow a field alongside members of his local tractor club.

While he was making a turn at the end of the field, his tractor hit a log that had been covered by grass which threw him from the tractor. He was caught in the plow which dragged him 40 yards before he finally fell free.

Weighton was cared for at the scene before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

There were no other members of the club that were injured in the accident.
