It’s that time of year again when farmers are taking to the fields which means roads are about to fill up with more semis and tractors.

With more big, heavy equipment on the roads means it’s even more important to remain attentive while driving down the road.

Earlier this week, one person was killed in a semi-truck accident. Iowa State Patrol reported that the semi was headed west on the interstate when a car was parked on the inside shoulder of the road. That's when an occupant of the vehicle opened the door and stepped into oncoming traffic. They walked into the path of the oncoming semi and were struck.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only fatal, semi-related accident to happen this week.

Over in Sheldon, a man has died as the result of a semi-tractor accident.

On September 7th, the Iowa State Patrol reports that 22-year-old Tyler Fisk of Wisconsin was driving a 2023 International semi northbound on Highway 60, just south of Ashton. At that time, George Klein, age 84, was also driving his Silver King farm tractor northbound down Highway 60.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Fisk was driving an oversized load when he rear-ended Klein around 250th Street.

The accident report says that Klein was pronounced dead at the scene by the Osceola County Medical Examiner. Fisk was not injured during the accident.
