Last weekend I went back to my home state of Wisconsin to go to my very first Milwaukee Brewer game at Miller Park. While I was in Brew City I have heard about this restaurant that serves up some of the best butter burgers in the state. Now, I know what you are thinking, Culver's already makes butter burgers. You would be right, but Culver's spreads a little butter on the buns and toast them. Solly's burgers, however, are topped with a generous helping of butter.

The restaurant has been a Milwaukee favorite since 1936. I heard about this place because it was featured on the website Thrillist. Solly's Grille burgers come in a variety of sizes, ranging from a single up to the 2/3-pound specialty Cheesehead burger, which includes grilled mushrooms, stewed and raw onions and Swiss, American and cheddar cheese. And, of course, butter. I went with the original, juicy sirloin, Wisconsin butter & stewed onions. My girlfriend had the Blue Cheese Burger (1/3 lb.) & fries and I have to say that these burgers are legit! As you can see in the photo of the burger opened up, a huge helping of butter is layered on!

I'm not the only one who thinks so. Keith Famie of The Food Network says they are the "Best Butter Burger". USA Today list them in the "10 Best Burgers in America". So if you happen to be traveling in the Milwaukee area, make sure you swing by Solly's and try one of their signature burgers.
