Imagine what it would be like to spend the next year living life to the fullest, making a difference in other people’s lives and moving past any setback that comes your way.

Don Armstrong does just that!

Don is a survivor of leukemia.

“I was shocked and stunned when I got the diagnosis. I thought I was fine. I thought there was nothing wrong with me. To be told you have an illness that can eventually take your life---it took me back! I had to really dig down to get through that moment. Fortunately I had a lot of things in my favor. I had a great support group around me. I also had God in my life.”

Since the diagnosis, Don says the cancer changed every part in his life.

“I was very successful in business. But, I was not successful in fulfilling my life. After I got the diagnosis, I had five rounds of chemo and a stem cell transplant. After all that was done, I had to take a look at my life and figure out where I was. I evaluated every aspect of my life and realized I had the wrong priorities. I refocused and viewed my life in a different and really focus on what I could do to help others. That’s what I wanted to do coming out of the illness---wanting to make a difference in the lives of other people.”

During the tough times and there were many, Don took the focus off of him!

“I could sit there and dwell on me. But, most important I discovered if I focus on other people and giving time to them---I would be all right. It’s true! Everybody goes through adversity and things they have to confront in life. Some of them are real minor situations like rush hour traffic or a car breaking down. I had one of those large things that shook me to my core. I wouldn’t want anybody to experience what happened to me. But, I want them to know what I learned. It really changed my outlook on life.”

Don didn’t just talk about helping others. He did it!

Don raised more then $135,000 for blood cancer research after he co-founded a nonprofit to help others!

No doubt about it! Don Armstrong, author of “Finish YOUR Race: Empower Your Life with Strategies from a Cancer Survivor, is truly making a difference!
