Remember classic scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when Clark Griswold turns on the lights on his house for Christmas? Well if he wear to do it today, it would be a bit pricey!

Real estate blog Estately decided to look at how much the bill would be if someone decided to tackle this task by each state. In the film, Clark Griswold strings 25,000 incandescent bulbs on his house. Using the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, they calculated the cost of both incandescent and LED holiday lights for 5 hours during a 31 day period.

As for South Dakota using LED lights, the cost wouldn't be that bad. Powering 25,000 LED Christmas lights the cost would only be about $39 but to run 25,000 incandescent lights the cost would be much more. About $3,388!!!

When it comes to the most expensive state, Hawaii and Alaska, whereas it’s least expensive in Louisiana and Washington state.
