Home Free Put Their Own Heartbreaking Spin on Boyz II Men’s ‘End of the Road’ [Watch]
Back in 1992, soulful quartet Boyz II Men broke hearts everywhere with their hit song “End of the Road.” Now, 26 years later, the song is about to do it again courtesy of all-vocal country group Home Free.
Released on Thursday (Jan.10), the men of Home Free join voices on the lost love song after being inspired to tackle the cover last year.
“After seeing Boyz II Men’s Las Vegas residency while in town for the ACM Awards last year, we knew we had to release this,” shares high tenor Austin Brown in a press release about the video, which the group filmed in Nashville. “This is the ultimate love song and my favorite of those we’ve ever done. We actually recorded our rendition over a year ago now, but have just been waiting for the right time to share it with everyone.”
The cover also indirectly gives a sweet shout out to their former The Sing-Off judge and Boyz II Men member Shawn Stockman. The group shot to fame after winning Season 4 of the reality singing competition in 2013.
The new cover is just a piece of what looks to be quite a year for Home Free. Since closing out their third annual A Country Christmas Tour late last year, they have been enjoying the success of their current video of their cover of Sawyer Brown's "Some Girls Do," which has become a fixture at the top of Taste of Country’s weekly countdown of the top videos in country music.
Home Free will also be heading back out on their Timeless World Tour next month in Canada, along with dates in Australia and the U.S.
