Still searching for a New Year’s resolution for 2015? Most people will attempt a new diet. Others will vow to get in better shape by exercising more often and watching what they eat to drop those unwanted pounds.

Then there’s always the crowd that will make the commitment to get their finances in order by curtailing spending and becoming better savers.

But if you’re looking for something a little different this year, maybe you should resolve to get more sleep in 2015.

Check this out, there’s a new study that has found the average person loses eight days of sleep a year. That works out to be about half an hour every single night!

It takes the average person 26 minutes to fall asleep once they hit the rack. 13% of us will take at least 45 minutes, and another 6% of people take at least one full hour to nod off.

Why so long?

One very good reason. We all tend to stay up worrying about something.

Be it financial issues, our job, debt, relationships, wondering if our kids are on drugs, things that go boom in the night, or who is going to win Survivor. Let’s hope you’re not up worrying about that!

What can a person do to stop worrying so much?

The experts at WebMD say there are nine steps to helping eliminate all the anxiety that builds up in a person's life. They are:

  1. Making a list of all your worries.
  2. Analyze the list.
  3. Embrace uncertainty.
  4. Bore yourself calm.
  5. Make yourself uncomfortable.
  6. Stop the clock.
  7. Remember that it’s never as bad as you think it will be.
  8. Cry out loud.
  9. And finally, talk about it.

If the reason you’re losing sleep at night is because someone in your household snores like a freight train speeding down the track. May I suggest Continuous Positive Airway Pressure?
