Are you like me? Have you read something but for whatever reason you have to read it again to get the message? I'm sure there is a fancy medical name for when this happens.

A man from North Carolina had a similar thing happen, but in this case, the mistake actually worked out in his favor.

Aweis Mohamed from Greensboro misread a winning lottery ticket. At first glance, he thought it was only a $1,000 winner. After further review he discovered it was a life-changing amount, he actually won $150,000.

"My heart just dropped," Mohamed told Fox8 TV.

Mohamed just finished a shift as a manufacturing technician when he stopped at a convenience store and bought three tickets. The first tickets two were flops.

"I scanned the one I won, and it said to take it to the lottery headquarters," Mohamed said. "And when I took it, I thought I won $1,000 and the lady said I won $150,000 and that I had to come to Raleigh."

Mohamed left lottery headquarters in Raleigh with a check for $110,864 after Uncle Sam and the state tax collectors get their cut.

Mohamed plans to use the cash to pay down his mortgage. "I had to see it to believe it," Mohamed said. "I told myself to stay positive and stay humble, and if it's your time, it's your time."
