Help Raise Money for Kids Who Can’t Afford School Lunch
Did you know that at ten elementary schools in the Sioux Falls School District, 70% or more of students qualify for free or reduced lunch due to income constraints? 70 PERCENT!
Did you know that children can charge five meals, but after five unpaid charged meals they only receive snacks? If after fifteen charged snacks they still can't pay, the child will no longer be served.
This is not the child's fault. You can help.
The Barrel House at 4701 East 54th Street in Sioux Falls will be holding a Hungry Hearts Day on Saturday, October 14 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Twenty-five percent of the event sales will be donated to the Sioux Falls School District Lunch Program to help the children who can't afford to pay for their meals.
The event will be held in the Barrel House parking lot and will include a giant hog roast, auction, live music, inflatables for the kids, prizes, cotton candy, clowns, face painting and more. The goal is to raise $25,000.
You can view the auction items and make a donation online here.
Many families don't qualify for the federally funded free/reduced lunch program. This is your way to help make sure all of our children are fed at least one good meal a day.
