George Strait's Houston Rodeo-closing performance on Sunday night (March 17) was special not only for the records he broke, but a surprise appearance from his young grandson, Harvey Strait.

The crowd gave 6-year-old Harvey a warm and rowdy Texas welcome as his grandfather introduced him. "This is my grandson and he's going to sing with me," the King of Country remarked.

Country music's hottest new duo performed "God and Country Music," a track written by Luke Laird, Barry Dean and Lori McKenna that appears on Strait's new Honky Tonk Time Machine album, out March 29.

Harvey is a guest vocalist on the studio version, as well.

"There's always lost in the found / Darkness in the 'I Saw the Light' / It's still livin' in those small towns / In some church or backroad honky-tonk tonight / It's a dance between the sin and the salvation / Come hell or high water, there's two things still worth savin' / God and country music," they sing in the chorus.

Other special guests during Strait's show — the last performance at RodeoHouston's 2019 event — included Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen. Strait broke his previous NRG Stadium attendance record from 2013 (80,020) with 80,108 tickets sold this year. The concert also marked Strait's 30th performance in his 22 years of performing at one of Texas' most iconic events. Strait is one of just five entertainers who've perform in front of more than one million fans at RodeoHouston — a feat not lost on rockers Kings of Leon, who covered Strait's "Amarillo by Morning" when they made their debut at the event.

Strait's Honky Tonk Time Machine album will bring twelve new, original songs. The King will be perform live again soon after the release, at the 2019 ACM Awards on April 7 at 8PM ET on CBS. He also has a handful of Las Vegas residency shows at the MGM Garden Arena in August and December.
