According to Business Insider, an online database had posted names, Facebook IDs and phone numbers of 267 million people.

The database was reportedly available online without a password, so anyone could access the personal data.

The database was traced back to Vietnam it is not clear exactly how the data had been accessed or what it was being used for.

It's thought that the data could be used for spam messaging and phishing.

Most of the people affected are from the United States.

The database is now offline, but the data was reportedly posted to an online forum before the source was removed.

Facebook says this was most likely data from the years before changes were made to better protect users’ personal information.
