The Black Hills gets a lot of attention for winter fun and activities in South Dakota, but it turns out that there is plenty of cold air fun right here in Sioux Falls! We have created what we think could be a fun, one-day itinerary of winter activities. Take these ideas as they are or modify them as you wish.

Morning: A walk around Falls Park
- Time: 8:30 to 10:00 am
- Begin the day at Falls Park. The frozen Falls create a stunning winter scene. Be sure to come back after sunset and take in the lights of Winter Wonderland during the holiday season.
Late Morning: Sledding at Tuthill Park
- Time: 10:30 am to Noon
- Tuthill Park on Cliff Ave has one of the steepest sledding slopes in the Sioux Falls area. Bring your sled and see how fast you can go!
Lunch Break
- Time: 12:30 to 1:30 pm
- Warm up with coffee or hot cocoa at the retro-themed Phillip's Avenue Diner or visit any of the great downtown restaurants.
Afternoon: Skiing or Tubing at Great Bear Ski Valley
- Time: 2:00 to 5:00 PM
- Great Bear Ski Valley is only a short drive from downtown Sioux Falls. Rent skis, snowboards, or tubes if you don't have your own. They have trails for every skill level. Lessons are available for beginners.
Evening: Ice Skating at Campus Park
- Time: 6:00 to 7:30 PM
- Finish your day for winter fun with ice skating at the open-air rink at Campus Park located at 26th Street and Summit Avenue. A perfect way to end your day of winter adventure in Sioux Falls.
