David Nail is a proud father of 3-year-old twins, and when dropping his kids off at school on Wednesday (Jan. 23), a comment from their teacher struck a chord with him.

The father of two shared the heartfelt moment with fans in a short video in his car minutes later:

"Just dropped off Lawson and Lilli Cate to the little school that they go to. As I was walking out the teacher said, 'Have a great day, Daddy.' It got to me. It hit me pretty hard."

"I just realized, and this is super cheesy, but there's truly nothing better than being a dad and being referenced as a dad," he continues. "Obviously my kids are three years old and it just hit me hard. It's going to be a good day today. I can feel it."

Nail and his wife, Catherine, welcomed twins Lawson Brent Nail and Lillian Catherine Nail into the world on Dec. 12, 2015. "No words can describe the feeling," the couple shared in a statement at the time. "Beyond worth the wait. We are crazy in love with them both."

The "Red Light" singer spilled the baby news to Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex on the red carpet of the 2015 CMA Awards, saying that: "I'm as ready as you can be."
