Darius Rucker will receive the Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award at the 2019 Music Business Association (Music Biz) Awards & Hall of Fame on May 7.

Rucker has devoted much of his career to giving back, including supporting the MUSC Children's Hospital in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, for more than a decade. Additionally, he and his Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation hosts the annual Monday After the Masters golf tournament which brings together golfers and celebrities alike to raise money for more than 200 charities that support public education and junior golf programs in his home state. Every fall, his foundation also hosts Hootie's Homegrown Roundup, an event which raises funds to assist underprivileged children in the Charleston County School District.

Rucker has also created an annual CMA Fest week event in his current hometown — the Darius & Friends concert and golf tournament benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The annual event, established in 2010, has raised millions for the hospital and its families. Every year Rucker himself performs and plays golf along with his celebrity friends to raise money for the children battling cancer. Previous participants of the golf tournament and concert include: Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Charles Kelley, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers, among others.

Music Biz 2019 conference will be returning to Nashville May 5-8 at the JW Marriott in downtown Nashville.
