Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon and Townsquare Media Sioux Falls

Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon 2022 Presented By Jerry's Auto Sales: Sept 29 and 30

For fifteen years Result-Townsquare Media Sioux Falls has been helping raise money to help fight childhood cancer.

Sadly, more than 11,000 children will be diagnosed with various forms of cancer this year. Instead of being able to just be a kid, these children will be learning about the serious experiences of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hospital or clinic visits.

The money raised through Dining for Kids and the 2022 Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon stays in the Sioux Falls area.

DIAGNOSIS: OSTEOSARCOMA

In early 2020, Kolby from Volin was complaining of leg pains. His parents thought their 11-year-old had growing pains or maybe an injury from track.

After a while, the pain got so bad that Kolby was rolling on the ground. His parents took him to the doctor and after a few appointments, they heard the words no parent ever wants to hear: "Kolby has cancer."

Kolby had osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that required amputation of his leg and several rounds of chemotherapy. That's hard for any child to understand, but Kolby had the additional challenge of autism, so Child Life Specialists really helped him along the way.

For nearly a year, Kolby relied on crutches to get around, but in May 2021 he was strong enough on his prosthetic to walk without them. He continues to visit Sanford Children's for follow-up care and physical therapy, and he loves to make everyone else happy.
