‘Cast with a Cop’ Creates Memories for Kids in Need in Sioux Falls
There’s nothing better than taking a kid fishing. And that’s just what Sioux Falls law enforcement did Thursday in Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls Police officers, Game, Fish & Parks staff, and South Dakota Highway Patrol officers spent the morning with nineteen children fishing.
The program is called “Cast with a Cop.” It’s designed to pair children in low income families with law enforcement to create a better understanding and hope to gain trust and respect. The children came from The Banquet, Union Gospel Mission, the Multi-cultural Center and the St. Francis House. The Game, Fish & Parks provided the fishing poles and Dakota Angler supplied the bait.
The Multi-Cultural Center provided the transportation for the children to the Soukup Construction private fishing pond near 12th and Tea-Ellis Road.
The kids caught 102 fish.
