Buckle Up Country Music Festival Canceled
Nearly a week out from thousands of country fans traveling to Ohio for the Buckle Up Festival, the two-day country festival has been canceled. The festival's Twitter account announced the news on Monday (July 25) with no explanation.
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regretfully announce the cancellation of the 2016 @BuckleUpFest, set to take place August 5 & 6," the festival writes.
According to the festival website, all tickets purchased will be automatically refunded via Ticketmaster.
Brad Paisley was set to headline the music festival while Chase Rice, Randy Houser, Maddie & Tae, Tyler Farr, Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots, Jessie James Decker, among others, were also on the lineup to perform.
It seems that the news was learned by festivalgoers at the same time as the artists. While several fans took to social media to voice their frustrations, Jessie James Decker revealed that she, too, was surprised by the cancellation.
Buckle Up Country Music Festival was supposed to take place August 5-6 at Summit Park in Blue Ash, Ohio. The festival was purchased in 2014 by PromoWest Productions. Several days before the cancellation, the festival was alerting fans to purchase their tickets, leading some fans to question what changed in the previous four days.
This isn't the first country festival canceled this year. New York's FarmBorough festival was also canceled in February, a week after tickets went on sale to the public.
Toby Keith, Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw were scheduled to headline the festival, which was slated to run June 17-19 at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. It would have the second year for the event, which became the first-ever country music festival in New York City when it debuted in 2015.
The Big Barrel Country Music Festival was also canceled in January, though no explanation was given.
