I realize many people may think we are still a couple of weeks away from sunscreen season, but I can tell you, after sitting in the sun for three hours last weekend at the Great Plains Zoo, that simply isn't true. Thankfully, the majority of parents who came with their children that day, were already savvy to the requirement.

How do you know which one is the best one for you and/or your kids? Thankfully, every year Consumer Reports comes out with their research on sunscreens and shares it with everyone.

This year their top five "Best Buy" (combination of effectiveness and low price) sunscreens are surprising for several reasons; they're incredibly cheap and three of the top five are Walmart store brand equivalents of major name-brands.

The overall top recommended sunscreen is a spendy little product called Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk, which will set you back 36 bucks for a five ounce tube! This was the only product which garnered a perfect 100% score. So I guess if you have the jing and the desire, go for it. As for me, I'll stick with cheap and effective.
