As Seen In Sioux Falls: 41st Street Diverging Diamond Update
Heads up! As South Dakota heads closer to Spring, it won't be long before work on the 41st Street and Interstate 29 diverging diamond interchange ramps up again in Sioux Falls.
Crews worked hard in 2022 and made significant progress on widening 41st Street to three lanes from the interstate to Marion Road. That work is completed.

Now attention turns to the interchange bridge and the east side of I-29. Work is scheduled to begin in April 2023 and last through November. Drivers can expect significant delays in the interchange area while crews work.
The benefits of a diverging diamond interchange far outweigh the antiquated system currently in place today. The short-term "pain" drivers will feel in 2023 while construction is going on will be worth it.
When finished, traffic will move through the interchange much more efficiently and accidents should be reduced. See an animation of how the 41st Street interchange will look when completed.
Carsen Bower with South Dakota Drone on YouTube is back with another flyover of the snow-covered interchange. You will see the completed west leg of 41st Street and completed retaining walls on the west side of the bridge.
