When you're standing in line, waiting to check out at your favorite department store, and the clerk asks you if you would like to apply for a store credit card - do you?

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked that question. I usually say "no thank you," and then I get out to my car and second guess myself.

According to Credit Cards dot com, the store credit card deal may not be worth the hassle in the long run. It depends on how you use it.

Think of it this way - it doesn't make sense to get a 15% discount on a purchase if you're going to have to pay 25% to 30% interest on what you buy.

If you pay the credit card balance in full every month, then that's another matter. If that's the case, then you might want to think about opening up an account.
