When you're a single person trying to live frugally, sometimes, leftovers are a way of life. Although I love to cook, usually the only time I do is on the weekend and when I do, inevitably there are leftovers. I have never really given much thought to the art of reheating them. I thought that was the main reason for a microwave! Turns out--I'm wrong.

According to the smarty pants food experts at places like Bon Apetit and The Consumerist there are very few things you should reheat in the microwave. Coffee and casseroles; that's about it! Soup? Nope. Muffins? Uh, uh. What about vegetables? Forget it.


While I agree that many food items don't come out of the microwave tasting or looking as good as they did when they were first made, I will continue to commit infractions against this definitive guide to reheating leftovers. I just don't have the time or inclination to heat up the stove to reanimate a bowl of chicken soup, or fire up the stove to rejuvenate last Sunday's roasted veggies.
