A Sioux Falls man was sleeping Wednesday morning in his home on North Lake Avenue when he heard a knock at his door.

He wasn't expecting anyone, so he went back to sleep, but around 10:00 AM he heard noise in his living room. He went out to investigate, and found a guy trying to crawl through his front window.

The would-be burglar told the resident he was looking for his dog, but he backed out through the window and took off through the back yard.

Police weren't able to locate him, but Captain Greg VandeKamp says the suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s with short blonde hair and dirty hands.

He was wearing a dirty white T-shirt, dirty jeans and black tennis shoes.
