The Richards family of Canberra, Australia, officially set the world record for most Christmas lights on a house rigging an incredible 502,165 multi-colored bulbs on their not-so-humble abode.

The display has drawn the attention of neighbors, friends, family, and thousands of  gawkers to their otherwise quiet suburb.

It does, however, have a good cause. David Richards sets up free-will donation kettles around the display which supports various charities.

The big question is how much does this guy spend on his electric bill? The answer is roughly $2,300. However, the family receives a little help from a sponsor of an Australian green energy program.

The family is no stranger to the large crowds that form nightly to see the Griswold-worthy lights. They also set the world record in 2011, with 331,038 lights.
