Last year, we conducted a poll and asked, "Who has the best pizza in Sioux Falls?" Pizza Rev came out on top. Recently, the website OnlyInYourState.com did their own research and came up with "9 of the Best Pizza Places in South Dakota." The winners spanned from border to border.

Two Sioux Falls restaurants made the list. Even though it's only been open a few months, MacKenzie River Pizza in downtown Sioux Falls made the cut. Order the Flathead pizza. It has alfredo sauce, fajita chicken, bacon, spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms on it.  The Thai Pie is another good choice. It's made with Thai peanut sauce, seasoned chicken, mandarin oranges, scallions, red peppers, peanuts and mozzerella. YUM!

Grille 26 at 26th and Western was also chosen. Order the Funky Hawaiian brick oven pizza with pesto, ham, pineapple, chicken, banana peppers, applewood bacon, mozzerella and fontina cheese. The Italian will also tempt your tastebuds.  It's loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, mozzerella, basil, Parmesan and marinara.

Charlie's Pizza in Yankton was mentioned. Of course Food Network magazine named them Best Pizza in South Dakota last year. Charlie's was also named one of our Top 14 Road Trip-Worthy Restaurants.

Other South Dakota pizza joints that hit the mark were:

  • Big Time Pizza in Keystone
  • Lintz Brother's Pizza in Hermosa
  • Thatzza Pizza in Aberdeen
  • Dough Trader Pizza in Spearfish
  • Empire Pizza in Watertown
  • Independent Ale House in Rapid City

I think the website forgot a few. If you can suggest any other great pizza places in South Dakota, make sure you leave a comment on our Facebook page and we'll create our own list.
