Feeling a little groggy this morning? It's not surprising, after all you did lose an hour of sleep this weekend.  Studies have shown that the first three days after turning the clocks ahead to Daylight Saving Time, the number of heart attacks and car accidents actually increases - while worker productivity actually decreases.

Sleep Doctor Shelby Harris at Montefiore Medical Center in New York says 'springing ahead' isn't really how our bodies are meant to function, it throws off our internal clock.

"It's not uncommon to have problems with attention, concentration, and motor control.  All off these things can happen even with just an hour of lost sleep."

Harris says you can combat the side effects by incorporating a little, light exercise and also by limiting caffeine and alcohol use.  Studies have shown that consuming excessive caffeine and alcohol can actually make it even harder for you to adapt to the time change.
