Keith Urban got a little help from a friend to sing one of his big duets during a recent show: Lauren Alaina stepped in for Miranda Lambert on the song "We Were Us."

Readers can press play above to watch Urban and Alaina's performance of "We Were Us," which occurred during Urban's show at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif. Before the performance, Urban tells the crowd that he rarely performs the duet live anymore, but he knew he needed to get Alaina onstage with him for it after hearing her sing the song.

Urban was clearly impressed, too: When sharing the above video on Facebook, he wrote, "Hey Lauren Alaina -- I got an open mic for u anytime," and included the fist bump and "rock on" emojis.

Written by Nicolle Galyon, Jimmy Robbins and Jon Nite, "We Were Us" was originally released as a single in 2013, from Urban's Fuse album. The song hit No. 1 on the country charts, has been certified platinum and earned Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards in 2014.

Urban is not officially on tour this summer, although he is playing a few shows here and there; he's also back in the studio, working on new music. Alaina, meanwhile, is currently promoting her newest single, "Doin' Fine."
