Police say vandals have destroyed a state agency's weather station at the South Dakota School for the Deaf in Sioux Falls.

Officer Sam Clemens says damage is estimated at $10,000. He says the vandals got through a gate in the fence surrounding the weather station and, as he puts it, "broke everything they could get their hands on."

Clemens says the vandals got up on the roof and opened control panels.  They pulled wires and broke various instruments.

Clemens says the weather station is owned by the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

He says the damage occurred sometime between May 29th and June 6th.
