While Holiday parties and celebrations are filling up our schedules, AAA in South Dakota wants to ensure that you arrive home safely if you have too much to legally drive.

Tipsy Tow will give you and a friend and your vehicle a ride home  at no charge regardless if you have a membership with AAA or not.

Tipsy Tow launches Friday December 18 at 6:00PM through Saturday January 2, 2016 at 4:00 AM.   Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Mitchell and Yankton.

Marilyn Buskohl of AAA South Dakota describes why they want to provide the service.

We’re aware that over holidays, people tend to drink more alcohol than at other times.  AAA wants South Dakotans to know there’s an alternative to climbing behind the wheel and perhaps getting into a crash. We’re geared up for a busy 14 days of providing Tipsy Tows over Christmas and New Year’s. We hope we get lots of calls.

The auto club says over the holidays, up to 40 percent of all traffic crashes in South Dakota involve alcohol.

To access the service, call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and request a Tipsy Tow. AAA will come get you and your vehicle and give you a free tow within a 15-mile radius of point of pickup. However, there’s only place AAA will take you, and that’s home.
