Country veteran Lynn Anderson passed away on July 30 after suffering a heart attack, and many artists and industry members have been expressing their sadness and condolences after hearing the news. Tim McGraw took it a step further, posting a video of him and his band backstage warming up before his Cleveland show Aug. 1 with Anderson’s career-defining song “Rose Garden.”

In the clip, McGraw sings and sways with a nostalgic smile on his face and pure admiration for the tune, as his band provides a flawless soundtrack. The artist posted a quick glimpse into the performance on his Facebook page, but fans can view the whole song on his website.

Anderson is the daughter of Liz Anderson, who wrote “(My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers” and “I’m a Lonesome Fugitive” for Merle Haggard. She gained success in the late ‘60s with songs like “Ride, Ride, Ride” and “If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away),” as well as a two-year run as a regular on The Lawrence Welk Show. But it was the 1970 release of “Rose Garden” that made her an icon.

The song kept the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Hot Country charts for five weeks, also charting on the Adult Contemporary and Mainstream Pop lists. It earned her a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and a CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year.

McGraw is on his Shotgun Rider tour, which continues through October. His new single “Top of the World” is set to debut this week.
