Thirty Tigers executive Bob Goldstone has passed away at the age of 67. The Nashville businessman was killed on Sunday (July 3) in a bicycle accident in a Nashville suburb.

Goldstone was the vice president of sales for Thirty Tigers, an independent artist service in Nashville that offers marketing, distribution, promotion and management services for artists on an a la carte basis and gives smaller artists a chance at better distribution, while still retaining a much larger slice of the profits than a traditional record label model would allow. Jason Isbell, Ryan Bingham, Sturgill Simpson, Lucinda Williams, Aaron Watson and many more have worked with Thirty Tigers on successful projects in recent years.

According to Nashville's Tennessean newspaper, emergency crews responded to an address in the small, rural Nashville suburb of Pegram at 5:07PM on Sunday after receiving reports of a man lying in the street. A passer-by in a vehicle initially discovered Goldstone on the ground with his bicycle and called it in. Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove says the bicycle was not damaged, and there is no evidence that Goldstone hit anything before he crashed. There were 40 feet of skidmarks near the scene of the fatal accident.

"It could have been an animal that ran in front of him that caused him to lock up his brakes," Breedlove says. "He was coming down a hill at a good rate of speed."

Breedlove adds that Goldstone was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to receive treatment for a head injury, but could not be saved.

Jason Isbell turned to Twitter to express his thoughts over the death of Goldstone, who worked with him on several albums.

Thirty Tigers also paid tribute to Goldstone online, writing, " ... he was an integral part of the business and the spirit of Thirty Tigers. His passion for music was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. We’ve lost the beating, loving heart of Thirty Tigers. We’ve lost a friend, a mentor, a respected colleague and someone that loved us all so much, as we loved him. Our love and thoughts go out to Bob’s family, his wife Tami and his step-daughter Emma."

Funeral arrangements are pending.
