The Vikings have their hands full dealing with a playoff chase, with two games to go. And Sunday they are at Houston facing the Texans.

The Vikings defense is going to have to be on top of their game Sunday afternoon. It's going to be critical for them to keep Houston's drives short. The Texan's have the AFC's best rushing offense.

The Vikings are 8-6. Meanwhile, there's a lot of big activity going on among the 'purple gang' out of Minnesota.

First, star running back Adrian Peterson is contending for an all-time NFL record. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says he doesn't believe Peterson's pursuit of the single-season rushing record will take focus away from the team's playoff chase. Frazier says he knows Peterson remains committed to doing whatever it takes to win.

Next, let's look at kicker Blair Walsh. He was named NFC special teams player of the week on Wednesday after he kicked five field goals, including three of 50 yards or more, in a victory over the Rams. He hit from 50, 53 and 51 yards to tie an NFL record for most field goals of at least 50 yards in one game.

As soon as the Minnesota Vikings cross midfield, they know they're in his range. And the rookie kicker has been so good that no breath holding has been necessary. Walsh is 8 for 8 on 50-yard field goals this season.

And last but not least, Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder and ESPN reporter Samantha Steele have tied the knot. Ponder confirmed on Wednesday that the couple was married at a courthouse in Wisconsin on Monday.

Coach Frazier speaks again, he says he's happy for Ponder and not concerned about the timing. You might say that coach has a lot to think about right now.

Oh', and did I mention there's one more team to deal with after Houston? The 'Vikes' still have to play their 'rival' Packers.
