Here’s a few of the stories that had Sioux Falls and surrounding area talking this week:
Welding was the likely cause of a fire Wednesday afternoon at Billion Chevrolet on W. 12th St. Flames were visible shooting out of the roof of the body shop and no injuries were reported. At least six firetrucks responded to the blaze.
A South Dakota man will spend the next 6 years in prison for his 8th DUI. David Mortensbak was arrested after he was caught driving the wrong way on a one way, leading police on a short chase and hitting a parked truck in Sioux Falls. He also slammed his car door on a police dog during the incident. 8 DUI’s?
After 3 years of neighborly disputes for noise, liquor license disagreements , and warnings from the Sioux Falls city council, The Vault closed it’s doors for good on Tuesday night.
Authorities are still looking for this man who is wanted for assault following an incident on I-90 near Brandon last week. The suspect was described as a white man, between 5-foot-9 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium build, a scruffy beard and raspy voice and driving an an older, “square-type” diesel pickup. Sioux Falls police are warning residents that as the weather is warming up, so is the number of burglars on the prowl. Make sure that your house and garage doors are locked as thefts are on the rise.
Undercover officers responded to an internet ad for sex and met with a female at a Sioux Falls hotel earlier this week. An Ohio woman was booked on prostitution charges. She was also charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Well, there you go. [source]

After reporting to Ft. Hood, The South Dakota Army National Guard’s 1742nd Transportation Company has received their official mobilization order for deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.The 1742nd and its 165 assigned members are scheduled for deployment in December.
