I've seen the manhole covers for years, but until the other day what is written on them never registered. Walking in a parking lot I saw that the manhole cover was made in my home state, Nebraska.

When people think of Nebraska they think of UNL, football, corn and Warren Buffet. They probably don't think of steelworks and manhole covers. But, after seeing the cover in the picture above, it hit me that yes, most of the manhole covers I've seen were made in Nebraska. Specifically at Deeter Foundry in Lincoln.

Deeter Foundry has been doing iron castings work in Lincoln, Nebraska since 1945. It was established by Glen Deeter and his son Eugene. Along with all types of manhole covers they make grates, frames, stairs, covers and other iron casting items.
