According to the most recent estimates put out by the federal government, millennials will change careers 11 different times during his or her working life - not just jobs, but careers.

My, how times have changed. I can remember back in the late 80's, after graduating from college, we were encouraged to find a job that we could stay at forever - not any more.

Even when my kids were growing up in the early 2000s, they were being told the average job change number at that time was six - and now it's 11. Wow!

We're quickly becoming a nomad society. Perhaps that explains all the apartment complexes being built around the area - don't want to stay too long in one place!

I also wonder if "working your way up the ladder" is not what it used to be. From what I've read, a lot of millennials are venturing out on their own and starting their own business.

If you're one of those, about to get into the job market, the best advice this old man can give you is the more well rounded you are, the better. The more skills you can acquire, the more you can apply to a broad number of fields - and stay up to date on technology!!!
