The first Super Bowl back in the 1960's wasn't even called the "Super Bowl". Nope, it was the "NFL/AFL Championship Game". And it was carried on two, yes, two TV networks. Oh and by the way, it wasn't sold out.

Oh yeah, and tickets were $10.00. My, my, my...it seems times have changed.

According to the Associated Press:

(AP) - Super Bowl ads have sold for more than $4 million for some 30-second spots for this year's game.

CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves said Tuesday that all the commercials for the NFL championship Feb. 3 in New Orleans were sold out.

Companies paid an average of $3.5 million for a 30-second spot last year. TV's biggest event averaged more than 111 million viewers in 2012.

For CBS, the entire company is taking part in promoting the Super Bowl. The network's telecasts will be headquartered in New Orleans' Jackson Square. The sets will be used by 15 different shows from nine CBS divisions, from the main network to cable channels to online to radio.

Now that $4 million dollars per ad doesn't include production costs for the commercial(s), so we can tack that on, too. Wow.

That's a lot of soda, beer, auto's, and whatever else will be on. Of course, the commercial's in the Super Bowl are watched almost as much as the game! The next day, there will be stories about which ad was best and which ad was worst.

Well, I can tell you already which one was best and I haven't even seen them! Ready?

The best ad is the one that moved you enough to go out and buy the product. And to tell your friends to buy it, too.
