ELMHURST, IL -- South Dakota State University designated hitter Daniel Telford was named Tuesday as the Summit League Male Athlete of the Month for April.

A senior from Newmarket, Ontario, Telford batted .528 (19-for-36) with 16 runs batted in, reaching base in all 11 games he played. He recorded a hit in 10 contests, including six mult-hit and four-multi-RBI games, totaling four doubles, four home runs and a .972 slugging percentage. He ended the month leading The Summit League with five home runs and 28 RBI for the season.

Telford was named Summit League Player of the Week on April 15, after going 4-for-5 with two home runs and a career-high six RBI in an April 12 victory at Fort Wayne, followed by a 3-for-5, two-RBI day at the plate April 14 at Oakland. He helped lead the Jackrabbit baseball team to a 7-4 overall record during the month, including a 6-4 mark in league play.

North Dakota State golfer Amy Anderson earned the Female Athlete of the Month Award.
