Teenager Avoids Becoming Kidnap Victim in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS – A 17-year-old girl from Sioux Falls apparently avoided becoming a kidnapping victim just before 11:00 a.m. Monday morning as she walked to work.
Information Officer Sam Clemens says the 17-year-old girl told police she was near the Sears Automotive shop in the Empire Mall parking lot and walking to her job at the time.
Clemens says the girl went to work and her manager called police.
“A maroon or redish 4-door car that pulled up to her,” explained Clemens. “The driver stopped and basically asked her what was going on and ended up trying to grab her and pull her towards his driver’s door, the open door. She was able to fight him off and get away and then he ended up leaving southbound through the lot.”
She described the man as a black male in his 20s with a slender build and short hair, wearing a red shirt and a black, yellow and white-colored hat.
Clemens says the girl was not able to get a license number or state for the man’s car.
