The Sioux Empire will get to peddling this Saturday as the Great American Bike Race finally makes its way to Sioux Falls.

The event is slated for Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Sanford Wellness Center located on the Tea-Ellis Road.

This is the first year for the Great American Bike Race in Sioux Falls. It actually started 20 years ago in Bismarck, North Dakota. The event has raised over $2.5 million dollars over the course of the 20 year period according to Erin Rohrer from the Sanford Health Foundation.

Bikers won't have to worry about the weather that day, because the Great American Bike Race is an indoor cycling event. Teams of 12 people will take 20 minute shifts of cycling throughout the day. 100% of the proceeds raised stays here in Sioux Falls to benefit the Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital.

There's still time to gather up family and friends and form your team of 12. The registration fee is $25.00. If you unable to put together a team yourself, but would still love to participate, no problem, the staff will help place you in a team that doesn't have enough people.
