After six-and-a half minutes of football Saturday, the prospect of a University of South Dakota football player grabbing a player of the week honor in the Missouri Valley Conference seem unthinkable. But when the day was done, the Coyotes had rallied for a big win against Weber State, and now a pair of USD players are being honored by the MVFC.

South Dakota quarterback Chris Streveler is the Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Week, while kicker/punter Miles Bergner is the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Streveler, who began the game having an interception returned for a touchdown and then moments later had a fumble returned for a score, rallied the Coyotes back from 21 points down in both the first and second halves in the 52-49 win over Weber State.

The junior from Crystal Lake, Illinois, accounted for a career-high six touchdowns (4 pass, 2 run) on 22-of-38 passing for 173 yards and 23 carries for for 125 yards.

Bergner, a senior from Longmont, Colorado, kicked a game-winning, 34-yard field goal in double-overtime to give USD the victory. He was also a perfect seven-of-seven on extra point tries, and averaged 49 yards on five punts with two inside the 20 and a net of 45 yards.
