The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team will get perhaps the biggest test in program history, early in the 2017-18 season, when they travel to Duke for the first time ever.

The Coyotes and Blue Devils will meet December 2, at Cameron Indoor Stadium, in Durham, North Carolina, where Duke hasn't lost to a non-conference opponent in a NCAA-best 132 consecutive games, dating back to 2000.

In a USD press release, head coach Craig Smith said:

We are pumped to announce that we will be playing one of the premier programs in the history of NCAA college basketball in Duke University.

We are incredibly thankful to coach Krzyzewski and Duke for the opportunity to compete in one of the finest venues in all of sports. We know the Cameron Crazies will create an amazing atmosphere.

2017-18 will be Krzyzewski's 37th season at Duke. He's amassed 998 career wins with the Blue Devils, including 22 straight appearances in NCAA Tournament, 16 Final Fours, and five national championships, most recently at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Last season, Duke won their 20th ACC Tournament championship and finished the season 28-9 after losing to South Carolina in round two of the NCAA Tournament.

USD is coming off its first Summit League regular season championship. The Coyotes went 22-12, qualifying for the NIT for the first time, where they were beaten by Iowa in round one.

South Dakota returns three starters from that team:  First Team all-Summit League guard Matt Mooney, the league's Transfer of the Year, along with Carlton Hurst and Trey Burch-Manning.
