It's hard to believe but we are halfway through the regular season for most teams, and the top teams in each class are holding onto their spots.

Each class in this week's South Dakota Sportswriters Association football poll has the same top team. Better yet, most of the classes has the same teams in the top five and a few classes featured no changes in the rankings.

Let's get to it.

Class 11AAA
No change this week in 11AAA across the board. Roosevelt remains the top team following an impressive second half performance against 11AA's Harrisburg. Washington beat O'Gorman 35-14. Brandon Valley is back to .500 following a 49-20 win over Rapid City Stevens. Lincoln went to Brookings and defeated the Bobcats 27-7.

Class 11AA
The big question heading into this week's rankings was if Harrisburg would fall out of the top spot after losing to 11AAA's #1 Roosevelt. The voters did not punish the Tigers for the loss and they are the unanimous top team in 11AA. Mitchell continues to roll with three straight wins after a 62-8 win in Sturgis. Pierre and Huron went to overtime last week and it was Pierre sneaking out the victory to take control of the 3rd spot. Spearfish has been placed in the top five with a 3-1 record, while Yankton is holding on after losing three straight.

1. Harrisburg (6) 4-0 30 1
2. Mitchell 3-1 24 2

T5. Yankton 1-3 4 5

Class 11A
It's still wide open in Class 11A with four teams still with an undefeated record. As it should be, those four teams are ranked 1-4. Madison continues to be the favorite after destroying Lennox's homecoming last week 53-7. St. Thomas More defeated Lead-Deadwood 66-16, while Sioux Falls Christian beat Sioux Valley 26-13. Tea Area shutout Dell Rapids 19-0.

5. Milbank Area 3-1 3 5

Class 11B
Winner has a strong hold on the top spot in 11B and for good reason. The Warriors have yet to allow ANY points this season. They have outscored teams 200-0. Gronton Area remains in second with a 4-0 record and they defeated 11A's 5th ranked Milbank Area in overtime last week. Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan had a tough matchup against 11A West Central, but they were rewarded for the loss being moved up to 3rd. Tai-Valley has lost two straight to Dell Rapids and Canton in 11A. Finally Chamberlain has entered the rankings for the first time after outscoring opponents 183-12.

1. Winner (6) 4-0 30 1

Class 9AA

RV: Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central 4

Class 9A
Not a whole lot of change in this week's 9A football poll. Castlewood/Estelline has entered the polls after receiving votes last week, otherwise the four teams ahead of them remain in the same spots. Sully Buttes continues to roll through their schedule following a 48-7 win over Sunshine Bible Academy. Scotland had no problem with Tripp-Delmont/Armour winning 50-0. Potter County beat Faulkton Area 26-8, and Warner still received a first place vote this week as they defeated Northwestern 55-6.

No changes have been made to the rest of the top 5 in 9B as Corsica-Stickney, Hamlin, and Colome cruised to victories.
