South Dakota PUC Approves MidAmerican Energy Rate Increase

UPDATE: MidAmerican Energy received approval by the South Dakota Public Utilities commission to increase both electrical and gas rates.

It's been a decade since MidAmerican has requested an increase, which was noted by PUC Chairman Chris Nelson with appreciation.

According to Ruth Comer of MidAmerican Energy, the average increase for a household will be $5 per month for electricity and $0.72 per month for natural gas.

MidAmerican has 4,400 electric customers in South Dakota, and 88,000 gas customers.
