A man was killed and his passenger injured when their motorcycle collided with a deer near Irene, South Dakota.

55 year old Scot Brockmueller of Irene was identified as the person who died in the motorcycle-deer collision Saturday morning near Irene on 448th Avenue near 295th Street when a deer entered the roadway. Brockmueller tried to avoid the deer, but the two collided.

Both the driver and female passenger, 59 year old Vickie Brockmueller  were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The passenger suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. She was transported by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital.
